ORO
[ PACKAGING: A MODULAR SYSTEM ]
Let’s get nerdy... a modular system is design principle that subdivides a system into smaller parts (modules), which can be independently created, modified, replaced, or exchanged with other modules or between different systems. Modularity offers a few benefits: maximizing printing cost, flexibility + freedom, and if I do say so myself, a higher level of design skill and sophistication.
At this moment in your business, as you get to learn about yourself, your brand and the market, I believe embracing your current size and reach (while keeping an eye on the future) is the most nourishing way to establish and grow your brand. →
You didn’t ask, but I’m recommending committing to a logo. In this presentation, you’ll see the above logo mark. I feel it’s strong, but in no way am I saying this is it. Whatever logo mark you’d like to use works for me— and we should commit. If you’d like for me to design a logo system for you let’s talk. →
The Paper
Working exclusively with G.F Smith, we’ll purchase 1 universal weight of paper, in a myriad of colors, for a plethora of applications. A swatch book is on its way so we can choose, together. { Press play }
Note that colors on-screen are very different than printed colors on paper. Making swatches critical to best understand the vision for ORO. Refer to the above image of colored papers to begin to understand the jump from presentation to reality.
The Belly Band
AKA: SECONDARY PACKAGING
A series of four “belly bands” have been designed to offer you a range of options: Closed, Horizontal, Vertical, and Askew. These give the primary packaging (what holds the pasta) a foundation and will work on both fresh and dried pasta boxes.
Ideally, budget permitting, The Belly Band will be embossed with the ORO logo.
The Belly Band will be delivered flat and you can assemble in advanced with the attached peel and stick adhesive, or one at a time as a sacred act of anti-efficiency preparation. →
The Sticker
Two shapes of stickers are being proposed, both as identifiers of the pasta— one by name the other as a graphic element. With The Card these two elements complete one another, aesthetically, functionally and formally. And yet, bothe can hold their own.
The Card
A RECIPE, NOTE, HISTORY LESSON, NEWS
What’s printed on this card can be as fluid and responsive as the mood strikes. Sharing a written recipe, or a QR code to a page that’s an ever-changing cycle of them is its primary purpose. The act of placing The Card is a personalization that the intimate scale of your business (for now ;-) affords you now.
Alternately, you can share a recipe and a hand-written note or just the note. When you want you can print-up a history lesson about a pasta shape, ingredient, etc. Think of this as a physical blog! →
Inspiration
The Ribbon
This thinner strip could become a signature of ORO. A pop of color, that signals this is more than pasta, but rather a gift. From you to them. Serving no purpose beyond going the extra mile to delight.
Of course we could also print on the back of the strip a quote, an incentive, a social ‘follow us’ message or business contact info… It will feel special regardless. →
